Why an Alternate Email Address? For a variety of reasons, email addresses sometimes fail to work properly, which can prevent messages from successfully reaching your inbox. Unfortunately, you may not even realize a problem exists, especially during outages of short duration. To combat the harm that email outages can wreak, we’ve built an alternate address system into TopLaw. If you supply us with an alternate email address and your primary email address stops functioning properly, our alternate address system will notify you of this problem at your alternate email address. Once you receive this warning message, you can notify your system administrator or ISP so that they can resolve the problem. Our alternate address system has two other benefits as well. First, if you switch jobs or ISPs, and forget to change your primary TopLaw email address, our alternate address system will remind you to do so. As a result, you can continue using your existing TopLaw account rather than starting anew, which is especially important if you have earned ViewPoints, our TopLaw rewards currency. Second, if you regularly use two different email addresses, our alternate address system will enable you to post messages to TopLaw from either address, and have them attributed to your primary email address.
